SAL Holiday Party December 21,2024

SAL Squadron 365 hosted a great Holiday Party at the Post. The theme was “Aloha”. The food and entertainment were great, but most importantly, the vision was, “No Senior Alone For The Holidays”. It was a group effort and everything was perfect. Thanks to all the membership and especially to SAL Commander Shaun Butler and wife, Kim, who have made it a mission to support all the seniors in the Legion and VFW. Their selfless, untiring work is truly an inspiration to all of us.

Leatherneck Club, Las Vegas – remembering Tom Morton

Mark Baca made a trip up to Las Vegas recently and visited the Leatherneck Club.
He met Rick Majoskey, a friend of the Legion for many years, and while there they added a shadow box containing memorabilia from the late Tom Morton.
If you ever met Tom, you will remember the first question he asked you, “Have you ever been to the Leatherneck Club in Las Vegas?” Tom was their biggest fan, and I’m sure their membership increased significantly because of his efforts.
Tom “Moose” Morton plaque at the Leatherneck Club. He got that nickname while serving 2 tours in Vietnam. The nickname “Bull” was a later sobriquet acquired when he served with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department. We miss you “Moose”.

Our 249th Birthday Cake Cutting Ceremony was held on Sunday November 10th at the Post.
An odd day for the ceremony, but a good group of Marines attended.

For the first time in more than 40 years, Stanley Buczkowski was not the oldest Marine to get a piece of the cake.
Stanley passed away earlier this year. Semper Fi! Stanley.
Everyone got a piece of cake. Photo provided by Marine Corps Sergeant Major (Ret.) Jose Flores, our Post Chaplain.

OKTOBERFEST 1974 – 2024

Two beautiful ladies – One timeless dress
In 1974, stationed in Vienna, Austria with her Marine husband Mike,
Karen Bowman wore this dress to an Oktoberfest Party.
Jumping ahead 50 years, our favorite mixologist, Jahneia, wore the same dress to her Oktoberfest Party.
