General Meeting Saturday March 16, 2024

Post 365 celebrated the 105th Birthday of the American Legion at our General Meeting. The American Legion was founded March 15-17, 1919, by members of the American Expeditionary Forces still stationed in Europe awaiting passage home from World War I.
Post 365 members and Auxiliary Unit 365 gathered for the birthday celebration.
Happy Birthday American Legion!!!
Commander Brad Sakemi reads the history of the founding of the American Legion to the membership as Mike Stevenson keeps track of the proceedings.
Service Officer Art Haeussler replaced 4 of the flags on the patio. The flags were faded due to exposure to the sun. The new location will give them a little longer life. Thanks Art for your contribution that makes our post an attractive destination for veterans.
Grrrr. We got tagged. The first time in 12 years. At least the tagger had the color right – GREEN – in honor of St. Patrick’s Day.

That picture of the dinner isn’t just a pic grabbed from the internet – it’s the real deal.
A huge 12 oz. prime rib, twice stuffed potato, and it also came with a Caesar salad and Chocolate Mousse for dessert.
Past Commander Haywood Bagley, Karen Bowman and “Padre” Bob Goldstein await their dinners.
Nolan Sakemi (minus a tooth) gives a bouquet of flowers to his secret valentine, Kathleen Garcia.
Jeannie Motier, always ready to take your order, for either food or beverage.

U S Army – U S Marine Corps – Joining Forces

This is a photo submitted by Norm Linek (U.S. Army Veteran), a member of American Legion Post 365 and member of the Executive Committee. The photo is of his son, James (JP) Linek who enlisted in the Marine Corps and was a Corporal in the Crash Crew (MOS 7051). Norm jokingly says he disowned him when he didn’t join the Army…
James resides in Oregon, and spends time at American Legion Post 44 (Ray Johnson Post – a different Ray Johnson)
In the photo James is driving an M1126 Stryker Combat Vehicle.
A Marine Linek. All’s right with the world.
