Past Commander Chip Dykes, now an Advisor for the Frontwave Arena in Oceanside, recently had Post 365 member Jerry Stephens as a Guest of Honor at one of the Oceanside Shock hockey games.
Shock rides the Zamboni at Frontwave Arena. “What’s a Zamboni?”, you ask? It cleans up the ice, and puts a fresh hard layer of ice down. I’d like to say you Californians would never know, you have to be from the East Coast to really understand – BUT – it was invented in 1949 by American inventor Frank J. Zamboni in Paramount, California. The first prototype was built on a surplus Jeep chassis (the Model A).

A huge THANK YOU to our membership! Post 365 continues to have well-attended and constructive General Meetings month after month. Your attendance and constructive participation helps Vista Post 365 rate as the top post in the state in regards to membership participation. If you haven’t been to a meeting recently, it’s time to come in and meet your fellow members and PARTICIPATE!Sue Hannibal spoke to the membership about Trauma Therapy. Sue will be at the North County Stand Down in November to talk to Veterans. The Stand Down takes place on November 19-21 at Felicita Park in Escondido. Happy 251st Birthday to all our Navy members.
Paul Krueger, Navy Veteran and VFW Commander supplied the cake for the Navy Birthday today.
Included in the festivities was a Trivia Contest (all Navy History questions, of course). Elias and Liz Rodriguez were the winners of the Trivia contest.
VFW and Legion member Navy Lieutenant (O3) Brittany Orr cut the cake.

VFW General Meeting October 10, 2026
Armen Kurdian attended the VFW General Meeting on Saturday and addressed the membership on several topics that are in Congress at the present time.
Armen is a retired Navy Captain and is seeking a seat in the US Congress in the upcoming elections.
During his visit here, Armen assisted the Post officers in raising the U. S. Navy flag in honor of the 251st Birthday of the Navy.

Kitchen Upgrade Oct 1, 2026
A big “THANK YOU” to Terry Moxley for donating new cabinets and a work counter for our kitchen. Terry who helps out in the kitchen a few nights a week is also the Finance Officer for VFW Post 7041 and the Seam Squirrel for Cootie Pup Tent 40. He’s got a lot on his plate, but still finds time to serve us plates of delicious food. Thank you, Terry.
